Patio & Outdoor Living Buying Guide

Plan an outdoor space around the way you want to use it: sitting, dining, cooking or looking after a pool. Measure the space first, then compare the furniture, accessories and equipment that suit the project.

Divide the space into practical uses

Leave room for doors, walkways and moving around furniture. Note any equipment clearances specified by the manufacturer before placing cooking or heating products near seating or structures. A layout that looks spacious in a listing photograph may not fit your available area.

Compare the whole purchase

Check the number of seats or pieces in a furniture set, and whether cushions, bases or covers are included. For grills, pool equipment and other appliances, confirm fuel or power requirements and model compatibility. Installation and assembly may need separate planning.

Prepare for delivery and care

Compare packaged dimensions, access requirements and the handling information in the listing. Larger items may need a scheduled or freight delivery. Review the Shipping Policy before buying and keep packaging until the order has been checked. Follow the product’s care and storage instructions for your conditions.

Before you buy

  • Furniture footprint plus circulation space.
  • Set contents and separately sold accessories.
